Seat tester In-Line

The client required a single station to test a seat’s clock spring, while measuring effort, angular displacement, current and vibrations.

This station required an automatic entry of product and minimal operator interference, while being connected to a seat assembly conveyor line.

LG AUTOMATION designed a conveyor extension to intake the product from the conveyor unto the station.

Several data acquisition components were proposed, such as inclinometers, accelerometers, encoders and load cells.

Pneumatic vibration dampeners were chosen to ensure the vibration testing wouldn’t receive any interfering noise.

The station integrated FUTEK load cells as well as POSITAL FRABA inclinometers, while reporting and analyzing their measurements in LabVIEW.

The vibrations testing was accomplished with the use of BRUEL & KJAER accelerometers, and the conveyor extension was integrated by LG AUTOMATION.

The seat was unlocked by using a SMC pneumatic actuator, and while unlocked, the seat frame was moved by a large steel frame coupled to a SIEMENS servomotor.
