Conveyor Line

The client required the refurbishment of a conveyor line by adding 5 assembly stations and 2 testing stations.

The conveyor line needed to perform the following processes:

  • H-Frame.
  • Backframe and cross-tube.
  • Bushing and actuator.
  • Spring shaft.
  • Cushion frame.

On the back side, the conveyor required the automatic testing of the following functions:

  • Seat backframe effort testing.
  • Seat power motor vibrations testing.

This station required an automatic entry of product and minimal operator interference.

LG AUTOMATION designed all stations and conveyor refurbishment, while ensuring modularity and repairability.

Several data acquisition components were proposed, such as inclinometers, accelerometers, encoders and load cells.

Pneumatic vibration dampeners were chosen to ensure the vibration testing wouldn’t receive any interfering noise.

The assembly stations integrated KEYENCE vision sensors, ATLAS COPCO torque guns, FUTEK load cells as well as POSITAL FRABA inclinometers, while reporting and analyzing their measurements in LabVIEW.

The vibrations testing was accomplished with the use of BRUEL & KJAER accelerometers, and the conveyor extension was integrated by LG AUTOMATION.

The seat was unlocked by using a SMC pneumatic actuator, and while unlocked, the seat frame was moved by a large steel frame coupled to a SIEMENS servomotor.
