H-Frame Assembly

In a car seat, the H-Frame is the lower component that allows the seat to be adjusted forwards and backwards.

This station required the assembly of the H-Frame, while ensuring motor connectivity as well as correct installation torque on the H-Frame’s flexible shaft.

LG AUTOMATION delivered a dual tooling concept to insert the flexible shaft into each rail, and a central tooling to assemble the motor bridge unto the H-Frame.

The operator would place a flexible shaft on each rail and install them with a press fit, while a load cell measures the required force. Then, the operator would assemble the motor bridge and test the motor functions through a power connector.

The station performed all requirements and logged all quality checks to a database. It used the following technologies:

  • Siemens servo mechanisms.
  • Siemens PLC & HMI.
  • FUTEK load cells.
  • National Instruments processor.
  • Keyence laser marker.
