Backrest Assembly

A seat backframe is composed of two recliners and a main frame, the recliners have a clock spring which is released to change the seat’s position between locked, full forward and full rearward.

The client required a standalone assembly station that assembles a motor on the seat’s recliner mechanism.

The station should insert a shaft and ensure both recliners are synchronized.

LG AUTOMATION designed and manufactured an open-concept station, with a motor validation subassembly in the center of the tooling.

This station leveraged two side moveable side-toolings to insert the shaft transmission that connects both recliners with the seat’s motor.

The project integrated the following technologies:

  • Siemens PLC & HMI.
  • Keyence and Balluff laser and inductive sensors.
  • Zebra laser printer.
